Year of Establishment:2006

The Department of Biotechnology at D.A.V College was established in 2006 to impart quality education in the field of Biotechnology. The Department of Biotechnology is one of the prestigious departments of the D.A.V College, Abohar. The department is runningthree years B.ScHons. Biotechnology (Undergraduate programme) and two yearsM.Sc Biotechnology (postgraduate programme) at academic level. Besides providing quality education, the department also provides research opportunities for the faculty and the students. The labs are equipped with instruments like Phase Contrast Microscope, ELISA Reader, Western Blotting approaches, Colony Counter, UV gel chamber, UV gel illuminator, Laminar Air Flow, Spectrophotometer, PCR, Water Distillation Unit, Autoclave and Fermenter etc.

Department is giving best efforts to motivate students to enter into modern research and technology and to undertake quality research programmes.

  • Lecture on Vermicompost by Dr. Adarsh Pal Vij, Department of Botanical &Environmental Sciences, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar.

Vermicompost unit at Botanical garden of DAV College, Abohar.
