Political Science

Year of Establishment: 1960 U.G. & 1975 P.G.:

Since the inception of the college in 1960, the department of Political Science has been doing excellent in the faculty of Arts. Prof. S.C. Nanda who was the founder head of the department, joined in 1960 and elevanted as principal in 1972. Prof. S.K. Dhingra 1965-2000 served the department and remained member BOS, PU Chd for several years and was followed by Prof. A.K. Sachdev 1971-2007. He was elected to the Senate, PU Chd. For two consecutive terms i.e. from 2000 to 2008. He had the privilege of being a Syndic member and BOS P.U. Chd.also. Prof. R.L. Verma joined in July 1971 and then joined D.A.V. College kangra, Prof. S.L. Setia served the institutional from 12.10.84 to 13.6.06. Unfortunately he expired his retirement. At present five Asst. Professors are serving the department.

 The department has both U.G. and P.G. Courses and also has the privilege of running P.G. teaching course since 1975 and hence is the first department to have the opportunity to introduce P.G. teaching programme.

Presently Dr. Vandana Munjal is the head of the department. She joined the institute in the year of 2001. Dr. Sharda Nain joined the department on regular basis in 2007 and continuously giving her best for the betterment of the department.

 Mr. Gurveer Singh, Dr. Mamta Gupta and Mrs. Mamta Jangir are at present serving the department on temporary basis and putting in their sincerest efforts.
