Department was established in 1960 with UG course (B.Sc. Medical). Now there is a PG course (M.Sc. Zoology) also. The department has there good laboratories with various facilities like projects, models, slides, microscopes, binoculars and different types of instrument and equipment. 

Every year, department organizes extention lectures from experts from different universities like Panjab University, Punjabi University, GNDU and from surrounding research centres. In addition to above said, department has also organized various International and National seminars such as:

• International seminar on “Health and Fitness” by Dr. Yash paul from Denmark on 21/1/14.
• National seminar on “Emerging Trends in Biological and Agriculture Science” on 22/1/16.
• National seminar on “Role of Biological Sciences in Organic Farming” on 20/8/19.
