Welcome to Political Science department

About The Department: - Since the inception of the college in 1960, the department of Political Science has been doing excellent in the faculty of Arts. Professor S.C.Nanda who was the founder head of the department joined in 1960 and elevated as principal 1972. Professor S.K.Dhingra (1965 - 2000) served the department and remained member BoS, PU Chandigarh for several years and was followed by professor A.K.Sachdev (1971 - 2007). He was elected to the Senate PU Chandigarh for two consecutive terms i.e. from 2000-2008. He had the privilege of being Syndic and member BoS, PU Chandigarh. Professor R.L.Verma joined in July 1971 and then joined DAV College, Kangra (HP). Professor R.M. Bhatnagar served the institution till 2004. Professor S.K. Setia served from 1984- 2006.

Professor H.S. Bhutani also joined the department but unfortunately expired in 2006 before his retirement. Presently Dr. Vandana Munjal is the head of the department joined the department in 2001 she remained member of BoS, PU Chandigarh from 2007- 2015 and again from 2019-2021. Dr. Sharda Nain joined the department in 2007. Dr. Mamta Rani and Mrs. Mamta Jangir joined the department in 2018. All faculty members are doing their best and putting in sincerest efforts for the betterment of the department.

The department runs UGC approved “Gandhian Studies Centre”. The department conducts seminars, webinars, extension lectures, various competition such as collage making, debate, paper presentation, quiz, clay modeling, slogan writing, album making, model making etc. Various Societies of the department are The PLATO: The POLITICAL LITERATURE and ACADMIC THOUGHT ORGANISATION
